Our goals are to teach the game of basketball in a positive environment with an emphasis on teamwork and good sportsmanship.<\/p>\n<p>Our recreation program runs November - January each year.<\/p>\n<p times=\"\" new=\"\" serif=\"\" font-weight:=\"\" 400=\"\" font-style:=\"\" roman=\"\"><span><b><u>Age Groups<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u200b<span>Kindergarten - Coed<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>1st and 2nd Grade \u2013 Coed<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>3rd and 4th <\/span><span>Grade \u2013 Boys<\/span><\/p>\n<p>5th and 6th Grade - Boys<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>7th and 8th Grade \u2013 Boys<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>9th - 12th Grade \u2013 Boys<\/span><\/p>\n<p>3rd-5th Grade - Girls<\/p>\n<p>6th-8th Grade - Girls<\/p>\n<p>One of our main goals for our basketball board is to create a league that is competitive and fair for all our teams. We have incorporated procedures to accomplish this goal by making all players go through a skills evaluation process (except for training league) and limiting special requests (players &amp; coaches) that would impact the competitiveness of the league. We also feel that players whose skill levels exceed their grade level are better suited to play up against more experienced players and thus may be asked to play up a level. This benefits both the player and league.<\/p>\n<p>Remember this is recreational basketball and our goal is for the girls and boys to have fun in a competitive atmosphere. The more balanced the league usually the more fun the season will be.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"man\">Volunteers Needed!<\/h4>\n<p><strong>The PBGYAA is an ALL-VOLUNTEER organization.<\/strong> Running the program takes many hours, many people and a great deal of effort to make it successful and financially viable.<\/p>\n<p>We think that teaching girls and boys about the value of competition and teamwork is a valuable life lesson and that they will remember their participation through their whole life. That\u2019s why we volunteer our time. We want it to be the best it can be.<\/p>\n<p>So, please consider putting some time back into the program to compensate for what you and your children gain from the program. Together, we can continue to build the program for ourselves and for others to come. Shall encourage children of school age (K-12 grade) to participate in these programs. Shall take whatever steps necessary to provide an opportunity to participate, to any child, regardless of physical ability, ethnic background or financial resources. Shall seek to demonstrate and promote the concepts of team participation, spirit of competitiveness and fair play, both on and off the field, by players, coaches, officials, family and fans alike. Shall actively seek the necessary funding to accomplish <span class=\"nowrap\">its objectives.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-top:20px;\">It is because of our enthusiastic volunteers throughout the PBGYAA sports leagues that our programs are so successful. All volunteer coaches have gone though a full background check by the city of Palm Beach Gardens.
