Divisions

Coed - 1st-2nd Grade Training League This is a non-competitive league where the players learn the basics of the game while having fun. The goal is to improve player skills by teaching the fundamentals of the game with emphasis on dribbling and proper shooting techniques. There are no evaluations for this age group, there will be a Meet and Greet basketball clinic.

Elementary - 3rd and 4th Graders - Boys and Girls Divisions Has rules to help control the game and allow the players to improve their game.

Intermediate - 5th and 6th Graders - Boys and Girls Divisions Some rules to control the competitiveness of the teams.

Middle School - 7th and 8th Graders - Boys and Girls Divisions

Each division will consist of 10 teams of 8 players on the team. Each division will cap at 80 players, if we have additional players on the waitlist we will make every effort to create an additional team as long as we have coaches available.

One of our main goals for our basketball board is to create a league that is competitive and fair for all our teams. We have incorporated procedures to accomplish this goal by making all players go through a skills evaluation process (except for training league) and limiting special requests (players & coaches) that would impact the competitiveness of the league.

The goal for Recreational Basketball is for the girls and boys to have fun in a competitive atmosphere. The more balanced the league usually the more fun the season will be.

The Mission StatementWe put children first.

The Palm Beach Gardens Youth Athletic Association shall assist in the positive physical and emotional development of our youth by providing programs for active participation in amateur sports. Shall encourage children of school age (K-12 grade) to participate in these programs. Shall take whatever steps necessary to provide an opportunity to participate, to any child, regardless of physical ability, ethnic background or financial resources. Shall seek to demonstrate and promote the concepts of team participation, spirit of competitiveness and fair play, both on and off the field, by players, coaches, officials, family and fans alike. Shall actively seek the necessary funding to accomplish its objectives.

It is because of our enthusiastic volunteers throughout the PBGYAA sports leagues that our programs are so successful. All volunteer coaches have gone though a full background check by the city of Palm Beach Gardens. Each Division Board consists of incredibly dedicated volunteers who are elected for an annual term.
